Mühlbauer launches new multibiometric eGATE solution

The Mühlbauer Group, proven technology partner for the Smart Card, ePassport and RFID industries, announces the market launch of its new multibiometric eGate, named FASTGATE. This new system is a modular, intuitive and customizable hardware and software solution for access and border control. FASTGATE is the suitable equipment to realize fully automated and fast border crossing procedures. The compatible software solution, Mühlbauer FAST supports automated processes on the one hand as well as border officials in case the automatic process fails, on the other hand.

Mühlbauer FASTGATE allows a secure identification of individuals at automated control lanes. Travellers provide their passports or optionally other ID documents to a scanner before the first gate opens and the automatic verification and matching process starts. The person enters FASTGATE and is instructed by software to verify itself by definable biometric data such as fingerprint or iris. In the background, Mühlbauer FAST performs cross checks with the data stored in the document and optionally with various data bases such as AFIS or a national data base. After all checks have been possitively handled, Mühlbauer FAST opens the second gate and the border crossing procedure is finished.

Based on its two-door setup which is similar to a lock and an optionally available security package around, FASTGATE meets the highest security standards. Overclimbing, forgotten baggage, piggyback ride and various other security incidences are recognized and reported. In addition, FASTGATE can be equipped with a complete video surveillance system for secure traveller separation and supervision.

Thanks to its modular setup, single components of FASTGATE can be easily exchanged according to the specific project requirements. The appearance of the gate itself is also freely definable, e.g. only one-door system, length and width of the gate etc. Thus, FASTGATE is also a sophisticated solution for various other access and control procedures such as ticket or company access control.

Based on its collaboration with the in-house developed software Mühlbauer FAST, FASTGATE becomes a unique turnkey solution. Mühlbauer FAST supports the complete border crossing from the first second where the ID document is directly checked for counterfeit. Individual data are verified and matched. In addition, Mühlbauer FAST indicates unverified persons to border officials. During the manual border control, Mühlbauer FAST provides helpful information such as document security features to be checked or offers additional data of the person. Alltogether, this leads to a much higher security level also in case of non-automated border control.
